Training and Development

The people who work for us are our greatest asset and to enable and equip them to do their job them is of primary importance.

One of the most important ways of giving our associates the tools to do their job is to ensure that they get access to the best training available, and that they feel that they are being continuously invested in.

If you are selected to become a Skills Alliance associate, you can expect the following:

In-house training programme

Recruitment consultants benefit from a structured thorough training programme from the moment they start, and the programme will typically continue indefinitely. It is designed around a number of core modules, developed in conjunction with one of the leading consultancies in recruitment training and development in the United Kingdom, as well as some in-depth courses specific to the life science industry. The material is constantly kept up to date to reflect the moving nature of the industry as well as advances in recruitment methodology.  Some examples of the modules include business development, hiring and interview skills, client relationship management and social recruiting.

Informal colleague and manager training

Every new associate will be assigned one of the more senior consultants or managers as a mentor.  We have found that by getting that continuous support right from the start is crucial to quickly progress, from learning the business systems we use to the working culture and our clients.  We foster an open and honest environment where everyone is encouraged to communicate freely, for the benefit of both the individual and the company.

External courses

We will work together with our associates to identify opportunities to up-skill via external courses, in particular life science industry specific seminars and workshops, covering topics that could not be facilitated in in-house training sessions. Often members of our marketing or finance team select this option as the expertise needed to deliver meaningful courses is lacking internally.

Management training

There is a formal programme in place focusing specifically on the development of leadership and management skills.  The structure of this programme is deliberately flexible to accommodate different levels but typically consists of internal modules delivered by members of the senior management team, external courses designed to develop knowledge of various aspects of management theory.

Professional qualifications

We support any of our employees, where feasible, in their pursuit of a professional qualification, if it’s relevant to their job.  Any of these cases are judged on their own merits.
