Hiring talent for vaccine development
In their quest to hire the critical talent needed for ongoing vaccine development, a global vaccine development organisation has partnered with Skills Alliance due to their expertise in life sciences recruitment. Since 2019, Skills Alliance has built a long-standing relationship with the organisation to recruit highly skilled talent across multiple global locations.
The challenge:
The organisation had to build out rapidly to combat the COVID-19 pandemic, hiring high calibre vaccine candidates on a remote basis throughout lockdown. After their initial expansion, they have a long-term plan to continue the fight against infectious disease across a range of areas.
As a result, they were strategically building out the organisation and wanting to recruit candidates who want to make a difference and are culturally well aligned to their values. This has been a challenging brief given the niche expertise needed, personality fit for the company and the requirement to deliver diverse shortlists of candidates.
There have been two key locations Skills Alliance have been required to hire in, including the need to relocate candidates globally.
The solution:
The Skills Alliance staffing team were selected to support these critical hires due to their global reach, ability to deliver high calibre candidates at speed and a proven track record of delivering diverse shortlists for clients.
Skills Alliance networked extensively in the vaccine space and pipelined candidates over the course of several years to support growth, performing full mapping and searches of the vaccine space across multiple divisions.
The combination of speed and methodological headhunting has been required to meet the client’s needs. After initially supporting in the project management space, the successful delivery of this project had led to Skills Alliance supporting all departments across permanent and contract.
The results:
Skills Alliance relocated candidates from South Africa to the UK and placed people across multiple locations including the UK, Norway, Austria, Belgium, France and the USA.
Candidate shortlists were delivered within 48 hours and with a CV to interview to placement ratio of 7.3 : 3.7 : 1. Ultimately, Skills Alliance have filled 75% of positions in the past five years where placements have been from Admin to VP level with:
- 26 permanent placements
- 26 contract placements
The departments Skills Alliance have placed into include: Project Management, Clinical Science, Medical Affairs, Regulatory, Quality, Manufacturing, CMC, Data Management, Events, HR, IT and Facilities.
